K-State 2025 Visionary Plan

There are going to be some major changes taking place at Kansas State University, but as you would likely expect, the changes are for the better. The university hopes to be recognized as one of the nation’s top 50 Public Research Universities.

In order to better understand exactly how that will happen, the university has released the K-State 2025 Visionary Plan, which is a detailed outline of the goals and benchmarks that must be achieved.

To get an idea of how the plan is already taking shape, check out our recent blog post on the new addition to the Bill Snyder Family Stadium which was a part of the 2025 Visionary Plan. Just by looking at the West Stadium Center, it’s clear that these changes are going to vastly improve the K-State experience for past, present and future students.

Just about every program and every person that has any involvement in the campus will be improved. The university has broken it up into seven different thematic goals. Each of the goals has benchmarks established for every five year period. To get a better idea of what each of those benchmarks consist of, you can check out the K-State 2025 Visionary Plan for yourself. To save yourself some time, you can also check out the summarized versions of each thematic goal below.

Research, Scholarly and Creative Activities, and Discovery
Create a culture of excellence that results in flourishing, sustainable, and widely recognized research, scholarly and creative activities, and discovery in a variety of disciplines and endeavors that benefit society as a whole.

Undergraduate Educational Experience
Build a connected, diverse, empowered, engaged, participatory culture of learning and excellence that promotes undergraduate student success and prepares students for their professional, community, social, and personal lives.

Graduate Scholarly Experience
Advance a culture of excellence that attracts highly talented, diverse graduate students and produces graduates recognized as outstanding in their respective professions.

Engagement, Extension, Outreach, and Service
Be a national leader and model for a re-invented and transformed public research land-grant university integrating research, education, and engagement.

Faculty and Staff
Foster a work environment that encourages creativity, excellence, and high morale in faculty and staff, responds to changing needs, embraces diversity, values communication and collaboration, and is respectful, trusting, fair, and collegial for all.

Facilities and Infrastructure
Provide facilities and infrastructure that meet our evolving needs at a competitive level with our benchmark institutions and are an asset to recruit and retain quality students, faculty, researchers, and staff.

Athletics
Strengthen the interconnectivity between intercollegiate athletics and the campus community to prepare our student-athletes for success in school, in sport, and after graduation and benefit our university, community, and state.

To find out more about what the university plans to do to meet their five year benchmarks, check out the video below where K-State President Kirk Schulz and Provost April Mason discuss the plan in further detail. It has us pretty excited about the changes that will be taking place—and we’re not even students.
